You may wonder at the name of the website. Actually, I've named the site after my song, Magic Island Moon, which I wrote in North Queensland before World War 2. Seaman Dan has recently recorded it as a duet with Wilma Reading on his CD Island Way (Steady Steady Music 2006).

You are now listening to a different recording of it which, with two of my other songs, is available for download in mp3 format, from this site (see below). The vocalist is Shelley Rosenberg and the pianist is Lee Anderson.

Here now at Magic Island Moon . Com you'll find:

  • They Came as Strangers (which I first published in 1995) - a family history of the Dun and closely-related families (particularly the Bedwells, Wards and Corks, as well the Reynolds family of `Duninald`) from about the time of the Napoleonic Wars until 1918;

  • Who Could Want for More? - the story of my own life up to 1975;

  • a number of brief descriptions of aspects of the Dun family history. Hopefully, some family member might decide to take their particular story to its next stage of discovery;

  • a selection of my poetry and song lyrics (including Magic Island Moon);

  • mp3 downloads of Magic Island Moon, 'Til the Shadows Fall and When You Smile;

  • an index of the News Bulletins of the Australian 31st Infantry Battalion, which has the title: The Whispering Boomerang. The index includes the Bulletins commencing in November 1976 up to the issue of June 2002, (however the Bulletins continue to be printed twice annually).

I hope you find something of interest on this site, and any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Please email info@magicislandmoon.com.
